 (VIDEO) Mother narrowly escapes being used by son for rituals


A woman, Eziada Chika Mbachu, has narrowly escaped being killed by her son, for suspected ritual purposes.


The incident reportedly happened early hours of Monday, between 7 am and 8 am at Heroes apartment opposite Concord hotel in Owerri.

It was gathered that the suspect who is now said to be in police custody, invited his mother, to his apartment for a surprise gift.


On arrival at her son’s abode, the unsuspecting mother met him merry and entered the house.


According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect jammed the door and then went to attack his own mother.


They said Mrs Mbachu was saved when the neighbours heard her screaming, and calling for help with deep wounds and bloodstains all over her body.


Mrs. Mbachu was reportedly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri for treatment, while her son was arrested and dragged to the police.

 

In a video that has gone viral, the mother, Mrs Mbachu, who is believed to be a parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish at World Bank in Owerri, was seen thanking God for saving her from the attack.


 “I thank God for rescuing me. I thank God for rescuing me. I thank my neighbours for rescuing me. I thank everybody who came to my rescue. I thank my neighbours. God in heaven I say honour to your name.” she said

Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, dies at 83

 Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, has passed on. He was 83 years old. The top Yoruba monarch died in the late hours of Friday, according to palace officials. Adeyemi died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. The late Alaafin’s first son, Prince ‘Tunde, and other children had received the monarch’s remains at Idi-Igba, Oyo town early Saturday morning. Palace sources confirmed that traditional rites had begun without giving details about his burial arrangement yet. Adeyemi ruled for 52 years before his demise, making him the longest-reigning Alaafin. By tradition, the head of the Oyomesi, Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Ayoola, would take over pending the appointment of a new Alaafin.
