 JUST IN: CBN Removes ATM Maintenance Fee, Cuts Bank Charges, Others BANKING & FINANCEFEATURED The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed charges and rates for banking activities in the country. This was disclosed in the CBN new ‘Guide to Charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial’ according to findings by DAILY INDEPENDENT. The apex bank said the guideline applies to charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial under its licence or regulation. The document revealed that the CBN has reduced the charges on some transactions including Standing Order Charge (In-Branch); ATM Maninance Fees; Electronic Fund Transfers and Bulk Payments among others. In the latest guideline, CBN said Standing Order Charge for intra-bank will be free compared to the N300 in the 2017 guideline.  (VIDEO) Mother narrowly escapes being used by son for rituals A woman, Eziada Chika Mbachu, has narrowly escaped being killed by her son, for suspected ritual purposes. The incident reportedly happened early hours of Monday, between 7 am and 8 am at Heroes apartment opposite Concord hotel in Owerri. It was gathered that the suspect who is now said to be in police custody, invited his mother, to his apartment for a surprise gift. On arrival at her son’s abode, the unsuspecting mother met him merry and entered the house. According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect jammed the door and then went to attack his own mother. They said Mrs Mbachu was saved when the neighbours heard her screaming, and calling for help with deep wounds and bloodstains all over her body.
